This little unit is very loud.
I purchased this to use in my wood shop. When I am running some of the equipment I could not hear the phone even with the extra ringer I have. This has a different tone so the two tones plus the strobe actually allows me to hear the phone now.

Rated a "5" with a disqualifier ... A funny story!
I bought this flashing ringer as a Christmas gift for my 90-year-old, crotchety, grumpy, anxious, widowed cousin who lives 1000 miles from us.We thought it would be perfect for her since she's getting deafer by stages but so far has refused to get hearing aids or any other assistive devices.I colluded with her neighbors, a very supportive couple, to whom I had it delivered; they were going to install it for Cousin Mary (an alias).Christmas came and went. I learned a couple of weeks later from the neighbor that Mary had taken one look at the amplified phone ringer and exclaimed, "I don't want any damn flashing lights in my house!".So I am unable to review this item. As far as I know it's a wonderful device and somewhere, someone else is benefiting from it. ;-)

I purchased this unit because of the high power strobe. I had tried other units with just a flashing LED and they don't alert you very well. I can FINALLY work with power tools in my workshop without missing phone calls!

Works exactly as advertised
This really does the job. With normal hearing, I can hardly stand to be around it when it goes off. Works great. Good strobe, too! Only one thing, which is in no way a defect or problem -- don't put it in series with Life Alert. It didn't seem to work on that line, probably due to some proprietary Life Alert protocol on the line. Don't really know. We put it on another phone line, and it works great. It is a good idea to bundle up the wiring to make it neat, if the wiring will be exposed. Great product.

phone strobe
I was looking for a replacement amplified ringer and strobe for my 93 year old grandmother. The original she had from radio shack broke and they no longer carried the item. After reading the reviews on this item I decided to take a chance on it. The ringer volume and strobe worked great. Very close to the one from radio shack, which worked great.

This phone works as intended
This is a second phone I purchased for my MIL. The first phone still works, I just wanted her to have an extra one so she can leave one at home and take one with her while visiting her relatives so she would always have a phone to use. The programmable numbers is very helpful and the big number buttons certainly is very helpful to old eyes. Would be nice if it has an answering machine built in that can take TTY messages from the relay operator.

I E MAILED THE COMPANY AND REQUESTED A UPS REFUND CERTIFICATE. AFTER NOT RECEIVING ONE OR A CALL FROM THE COMPANY WITHIN 24 HOURS, I REPORTED THAT TO AMAZON. TODAY I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE COMPANIES REPRESENTATIVE EXPLAINING THAT UPS SOMETIMES TAKES 2-3 DAYS TO CONTACT A CUSTOMER VIA E MAIL WITH A PRINTABLE RETURN RECEIPT. THE REP APOLOGIZED FOR THE CONFUSION AND OFFERED TO SATISFY ME WITH A NEW PHONE OR A FULL REFUND. THEY WERE POLITE AND SINCERELY SORRY FOR THE PROBLEMS I EXPERIENCED.
